📢 Breaking News | Price Hike Hits Honda Motorcycles in Pakistan After New Tax

KARACHI – July 1, 2025:

A fresh wave of price hikes has hit the motorcycle market in Pakistan, dealing a major blow to consumers—especially working-class riders—after the federal government imposed a Carbon Levy on imported motorcycle engines in the FY 2025–26 budget.

Atlas Honda, the leading motorcycle manufacturer in Pakistan with over 50% market share, has announced revised prices for its entire range of bikes, effective July 1, 2025. The additional burden of new taxes and rising production costs has been directly passed on to buyers, making motorcycles less affordable for millions.

CB 150F 499,900 6,000
CB 150F Special Edition 503,900 6,000

🚨 Impact on Consumers

The Honda CD 70, Pakistan’s most widely used commuter bike, now costs Rs159,900—an increase of Rs2,000. Its variant, the CD 70 Dream, also witnessed a similar jump. The CG 125, another popular model, saw a Rs4,000 hike, with its self-start and gold versions now priced at Rs286,900 and Rs296,900 respectively.

Premium models, such as the CB 125F and CB 150F, experienced the sharpest increase of Rs6,000 each, now costing Rs396,900 and Rs499,900 respectively. The CB 150F Special Edition has reached a staggering Rs503,900.

These hikes come at a time when Pakistanis are already grappling with soaring fuel prices, high inflation, and stagnant wages. For many low-income earners who depend on motorcycles for commuting and deliveries, this price surge makes mobility less affordable.

đź› ️ Why the Increase?

  • Carbon Levy on imported engines under Budget 2025–26
  • Rising inflation and input costs
  • Currency devaluation and import dependence
  • No subsidy or relief announced for two-wheeler buyers

🔍 What It Means for the Market

Experts warn that the price hike could lead to a dip in new motorcycle sales, especially in the budget segment. With motorcycles being the primary means of transport for Pakistan’s working class, the new rates may force many to delay purchases or seek used alternatives.
